ಸತ್ಯನಾರಾಯಣ ವ್ರತದ ಪೂಜೆಯ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸಲು ಹೇಳುವ ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಇವು. ಗೃಹಪ್ರವೇಶ, ಮದುವೆ, ಹುಣ್ಣಿಮೆ, ಹೀಗೆ ಅನೇಕ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಈ ವ್ರತ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಪರಿಚಿತ.
ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದವನೂ ಮೂರು ಗುಣಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದವನೂ ಆದ ಸತ್ಯಸ್ವರೂಪ ನಾರಾಯಣನನ್ನು ಇವು ಗೋವಿಂದ, ಗೋಕುಲಾನಂದ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತವೆ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಧ್ಯಾಯೇತ್ಸತ್ಯಂ ಗುಣಾತೀತಂ ಗುಣತ್ರಯಸಮನ್ವಿತಮ್ ।
ಲೋಕನಾಥಂ ತ್ರಿಲೋಕೇಶಂ ಕೌಸ್ತುಭಾಭರಣಂ ಹರಿಮ್ ॥
ಪೀತವಸ್ತ್ರಂ ನೀಲವರ್ಣಂ ಶ್ರೀವತ್ಸಪದಭೂಷಿತಮ್ ।
ಗೋವಿಂದಂ ಗೋಕುಲಾನಂದಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾದ್ಯೈರಪಿ ಪೂಜಿತಮ್ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
ध्यायेत्सत्यं गुणातीतं गुणत्रयसमन्वितम् ।
लोकनाथं त्रिलोकेशं कौस्तुभाभरणं हरिम् ॥
पीतवस्त्रं नीलवर्णं श्रीवत्सपदभूषितम् ।
गोविन्दं गोकुलानन्दं ब्रह्माद्यैरपि पूजितम् ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
dhyāyetsatyaṃ guṇātītaṃ guṇatrayasamanvitam |
lokanāthaṃ trilokeśaṃ kaustubhābharaṇaṃ harim ||
pītavastraṃ nīlavarṇaṃ śrīvatsapadabhūṣitam |
govindaṃ gokulānandaṃ brahmādyairapi pūjitam ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಧ್ಯಾಯೇತ್ (ध्यायेत्, dhyāyet) = ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸಬೇಕು (one should meditate on)
- ಸತ್ಯಮ್ (सत्यम्, satyam) = ಸತ್ಯಸ್ವರೂಪನನ್ನು (him who is truth)
- ಗುಣಾತೀತಮ್ (गुणातीतम्, guṇātītam) = ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದವನನ್ನು (beyond the qualities)
- ಗುಣತ್ರಯಸಮನ್ವಿತಮ್ (गुणत्रयसमन्वितम्, guṇatrayasamanvitam) = ಸತ್ತ್ವ, ರಜಸ್, ತಮಸ್ ಎಂಬ ಮೂರು ಗುಣಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದವನನ್ನು (yet possessed of the three qualities)
- ಲೋಕನಾಥಮ್ (लोकनाथम्, lokanātham) = ಲೋಕದ ಒಡೆಯನನ್ನು (lord of the world)
- ತ್ರಿಲೋಕೇಶಮ್ (त्रिलोकेशम्, trilokeśam) = ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳ ಈಶ್ವರನನ್ನು (ruler of the three worlds)
- ಕೌಸ್ತುಭಾಭರಣಮ್ (कौस्तुभाभरणम्, kaustubhābharaṇam) = ಕೌಸ್ತುಭ ಮಣಿಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದವನನ್ನು (adorned with the Kaustubha gem)
- ಹರಿಮ್ (हरिम्, harim) = ಹರಿಯನ್ನು (Hari)
- ಪೀತವಸ್ತ್ರಮ್ (पीतवस्त्रम्, pītavastram) = ಹಳದಿ ವಸ್ತ್ರ ಉಟ್ಟವನನ್ನು (clad in yellow)
- ನೀಲವರ್ಣಮ್ (नीलवर्णम्, nīlavarṇam) = ನೀಲಿ ಬಣ್ಣದವನನ್ನು (dark blue in colour)
- ಶ್ರೀವತ್ಸಪದಭೂಷಿತಮ್ (श्रीवत्सपदभूषितम्, śrīvatsapadabhūṣitam) = ಎದೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನ ಶ್ರೀವತ್ಸ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಯಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕೃತನಾದವನನ್ನು (adorned with the Shrivatsa mark)
- ಗೋವಿಂದಮ್ (गोविन्दम्, govindam) = ಗೋವಿಂದನನ್ನು (Govinda)
- ಗೋಕುಲಾನಂದಮ್ (गोकुलानन्दम्, gokulānandam) = ಗೋಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಆನಂದ ಕೊಡುವವನನ್ನು (the joy of Gokula)
- ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾದ್ಯೈಃ ಅಪಿ ಪೂಜಿತಮ್ (ब्रह्माद्यैः अपि पूजितम्, brahmādyaiḥ api pūjitam) = ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನೇ ಮೊದಲಾದವರೂ ಪೂಜಿಸುವವನನ್ನು (worshipped even by Brahma and the other gods)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಸತ್ಯಸ್ವರೂಪನೂ, ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದವನಾದರೂ ಮೂರು ಗುಣಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದವನೂ, ಲೋಕದ ಒಡೆಯನೂ, ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳ ಈಶ್ವರನೂ, ಕೌಸ್ತುಭ ಮಣಿಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದವನೂ ಆದ ಹರಿಯನ್ನು ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸಬೇಕು.
ಅವನು ಹಳದಿ ವಸ್ತ್ರ ಉಟ್ಟ, ನೀಲಿ ಬಣ್ಣದ, ಎದೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಶ್ರೀವತ್ಸ ಚಿಹ್ನೆ ಇರುವ ಗೋವಿಂದ. ಗೋಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಆನಂದ ಕೊಡುವವನು, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೇವತೆಗಳೂ ಪೂಜಿಸುವವನು.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
One should meditate on Hari, who is truth itself, beyond the qualities yet possessed of the three qualities, lord of the world, ruler of the three worlds, adorned with the Kaustubha gem.
He is Govinda, clad in yellow, dark blue in colour, bearing the Shrivatsa mark on his chest, the joy of Gokula, worshipped even by Brahma and the other gods.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಸತ್ಯನಾರಾಯಣ ವ್ರತದ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಕಂದ ಪುರಾಣದ ರೇವಾ ಖಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪೂಜೆಯ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಧ್ಯಾನ, ನಂತರ ಐದು ಅಧ್ಯಾಯಗಳ ಕಥೆ, ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಾದ ವಿತರಣೆ, ಇದು ವ್ರತದ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಕ್ರಮ.
The story of the Satyanarayana vrata is said to belong to the Reva Khanda of the Skanda Purana. The usual order of the vrata is this dhyana at the start of worship, then the five chapters of the story, and finally the sharing of prasada.
ಕೆಲವು ಪೂಜಾ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಪದಗಳ ಕ್ರಮ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಬೇರೆಯಾಗಿದೆ, ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ನೀಲವರ್ಣಂ ಪೀತವಸ್ತ್ರಂ. ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವಿಲ್ಲ.
In some puja books the order of words in the second verse differs a little, for instance nilavarnam pitavastram. The meaning is the same.

ಸತ್ಯನಾರಾಯಣ ಕಥೆಯ ಹಲವು ಅಧ್ಯಾಯಗಳು, ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮಾತು ಮರೆತವರು ಕಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿಲುಕುವ ಕಥೆಗಳು. ದೇವರ ಹೆಸರೇ ಸತ್ಯ ಎಂದಾಗ, ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ನಿಜವಾದ ಪೂಜೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಈ ವ್ರತದ ಸರಳ ಸಂದೇಶ.
Several chapters of the Satyanarayana story are about people who forget a promise and fall into trouble. When the Lord’s very name is Truth, the simple message of the vow is that keeping one’s word is the truest worship one can offer him.
