ಸಕ್ತಾಃ ಕರ್ಮಣ್ಯವಿದ್ವಾಂಸೋ ಯಥಾ ಕುರ್ವಂತಿ ಭಾರತ।

ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
सक्ताः कर्मण्यविद्वांसो यथा कुर्वन्ति भारत।
कुर्याद्विद्वांस्तथासक्तश्चिकीर्षुर्लोकसङ्ग्रहम् ॥ 25 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)
saktāḥ karmaṇyavidvāṃso yathā kurvanti bhārata|

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಸಕ್ತಾಃ ಕರ್ಮಣಿ (सक्ताः कर्मणि, saktāḥ karmaṇi) = ಕರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡವರಾಗಿ (attached to the work)
- ಅವಿದ್ವಾಂಸಃ (अविद्वांसः, avidvāṃsaḥ) = ತಿಳಿಯದವರು (the unknowing)
- ಯಥಾ ಕುರ್ವಂತಿ (यथा कुर्वन्ति, yathā kurvanti) = ಹೇಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೋ (as they act)
- ಭಾರತ (भारत, bhārata) = ಓ ಭಾರತ (O Bharata)
- ಕುರ್ಯಾತ್ ವಿದ್ವಾನ್ (कुर्यात् विद्वान्, kuryāt vidvān) = ತಿಳಿದವನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು (the knower should act)
- ತಥಾ ಅಸಕ್ತಃ (तथा असक्तः, tathā asaktaḥ) = ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅಂಟಿಲ್ಲದೆ (in the same way, unattached)
- ಚಿಕೀರ್ಷುಃ ಲೋಕಸಂಗ್ರಹಮ್ (चिकीर्षुः लोकसङ्ग्रहम्, cikīrṣuḥ lokasaṅgraham) = ಲೋಕದ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾ (wishing to hold the world together)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಭಾರತ, ಕರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡ ತಿಳಿಯದವರು ಹೇಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ತಿಳಿದವನು ಅಂಟಿಲ್ಲದೆ, ಲೋಕದ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Bharata, as the unknowing act, attached to their work, so should the knower act, unattached, wishing to hold the world together.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ 3.25ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 3.25
ಒಂದೇ ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮ್ಯವೂ ಭೇದವೂ ಇವೆ. ಹೊರಗಿನ ಕೆಲಸ ಒಂದೇ, ಒಳಗಿನ ಹಿಡಿತ ಬೇರೆ.
One sentence holds both a likeness and a difference. The outer work is the same; the inner grip is not.
ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಅಜ್ಞನ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ: ‘ಈ ಕರ್ಮದ ಫಲ ನನಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ.’ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸನೂ ಅದೇ ಕರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಆದರೆ ಆ ಸಾಲಿಲ್ಲದೆ.
Shankara catches the ignorant man’s mind in a single line: ‘the fruit of this work will be mine’. The knower does the same work, but without that line.
ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಒಂದು ಪದವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಅದು ಮುಖ್ಯ: ಆತ್ಮವಿದನೂ ಲೋಕಸಂಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕಾಗಿ, ಜನರ ಮೇಲಿನ ಕರುಣೆಯಿಂದ ಕರ್ಮ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಇದನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಆತ್ಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪೂರ್ಣ ತಿಳಿಯದವನಿಗೆ ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗವೇ ಅಧಿಕಾರ, ಮತ್ತು ಪೂರ್ಣ ತಿಳಿದವನೂ ಶಿಷ್ಟನಾಗಿ ಲೋಕರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗವನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಬರೆದಿಲ್ಲ.
Sridhara Swami adds a word that matters: the knower of the self should act for the world’s sake out of compassion for people. Ramanuja puts it into his own frame: the one who does not know the self fully is qualified for karma yoga, and the one who knows it fully should, as a distinguished man, still do karma yoga for the protection of the world. Madhva wrote no commentary on this verse.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಕಲಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ಇದೊಂದು ಸರಳ ಅಳತೆಗೋಲು. ನೀವು ಹೇಳುವುದನ್ನು ನೀವು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಾ, ಮತ್ತು ಅವರಷ್ಟೇ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಾ ಎಂಬುದು.
For anyone who teaches this is a simple yardstick: are you doing what you ask them to do, and doing it with the same care?
‘ನನಗೆ ಇದೆಲ್ಲ ಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೆ ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿ’ ಎಂಬ ನಿಲುವು ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ನಿಂತು ಅದೇ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಫಲದ ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ತೋರಿಸುವುದೇ ಕಲಿಸುವಿಕೆ.
‘I do not need any of this, but you should do it’ convinces nobody. Standing alongside and doing the same work, showing that it can be done without keeping accounts of the result, is what teaching is.
