ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಅಸೌ ಮಯಾ ಹತಃ ಶತ್ರುರ್ಹನಿಷ್ಯೇ ಚಾಪರಾನಪಿ।
ಈಶ್ವರೋಽಹಮಹಂ ಭೋಗೀ ಸಿದ್ಧೋಽಹಂ ಬಲವಾನ್ಸುಖೀ ॥ 14 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
असौ मया हतः शत्रुर्हनिष्ये चापरानपि।
ईश्वरोऽहमहं भोगी सिद्धोऽहं बलवान्सुखी ॥ 14 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)
asau mayā hataḥ śatrurhaniṣye cāparānapi|
īśvaro’hamahaṃ bhogī siddho’haṃ balavānsukhī || 14 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಅಸೌ ಶತ್ರುಃ ಮಯಾ ಹತಃ (असौ शत्रुः मया हतः, asau śatruḥ mayā hataḥ) = ಆ ಶತ್ರುವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕೊಂದೆ (that enemy has been slain by me)
- ಅಪರಾನ್ ಅಪಿ ಚ ಹನಿಷ್ಯೇ (अपरान् अपि च हनिष्ये, aparān api ca haniṣye) = ಇತರರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಲ್ಲುವೆ (and others too I shall slay)
- ಅಹಮ್ ಈಶ್ವರಃ ಅಹಂ ಭೋಗೀ (अहम् ईश्वरः अहं भोगी, aham īśvaraḥ ahaṃ bhogī) = ನಾನೇ ಒಡೆಯ, ನಾನೇ ಭೋಗಿ (I am the lord, I am the enjoyer)
- ಸಿದ್ಧಃ ಅಹಂ ಬಲವಾನ್ ಸುಖೀ (सिद्धः अहं बलवान् सुखी, siddhaḥ ahaṃ balavān sukhī) = ನಾನು ಸಿದ್ಧ, ಬಲಶಾಲಿ, ಸುಖಿ (I am successful, strong and happy)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
‘ಆ ಶತ್ರುವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕೊಂದೆ, ಇತರರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಲ್ಲುವೆ. ನಾನೇ ಒಡೆಯ, ನಾನೇ ಭೋಗಿ, ನಾನು ಸಿದ್ಧ, ಬಲಶಾಲಿ, ಸುಖಿ.’
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
‘That enemy has been slain by me, and others too I shall slay. I am the lord, I am the enjoyer, I am successful, strong and happy.’

ಮನೋರಾಜ್ಯ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಅವರ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಜೀವ ತುಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ: ‘ದೇವದತ್ತ ಎಂಬ ಗೆಲ್ಲಲಾಗದ ಶತ್ರುವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕೊಂದೆ, ಉಳಿದ ಬಡಪಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೊಲ್ಲುವೆ. ಈ ದೀನರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಏನು ಮಾಡಿಯಾರು? ನನಗೆ ಸಮರು ಯಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.’ ‘ಸಿದ್ಧ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮೊಮ್ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಸಂಪನ್ನನು. ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳಿಗೆ ‘ಸಿದ್ಧ’ ಕೃತಕೃತ್ಯ, ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಮಾಡಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದವನು.
The dream kingdom continues. Shankara gives their words life: ‘I have slain that unconquerable enemy named Devadatta, and I shall slay the other wretches too. What can these poor creatures do to me? No one is equal to me.’ ‘Siddha’ means well provided in every way, with sons and grandsons. For Sridhara Swami ‘siddha’ means one who has done all there is to do.
ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅದೇ ತಿರುಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾರೆ: ‘ಮಂದಬುದ್ಧಿಯ ದುರ್ಬಲರು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಅದೃಷ್ಟ ಮೊದಲಾದವುಗಳಿಂದ ಏನು ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ? ನಾನು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ, ಇತರರನ್ನು ಆಳುವವನು ನಾನೇ. ನಾನು ಭೋಗಿಸುವುದು ನನ್ನಿಂದಲೇ, ದೈವದಿಂದಲ್ಲ.’ ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ವಿವರಣೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲ ಪಠ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ.
Ramanuja finds the same core here too: ‘what use is fortune and the like, imagined by the dull and weak? I am independent, and I am the one who rules others. My enjoyment comes from myself, not from the divine.’ Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
‘ಈಶ್ವರೋಹಂ’, ನಾನೇ ಒಡೆಯ. ಅಧಿಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರು ತಾವು ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಡಲಾರೆವು ಎಂದು ನಂಬಿದಾಗ ಅಪಾಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತದೆ. ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯದಲ್ಲೂ ಇದು ನಿಜ.
‘Ishvaro ‘ham’, I am the lord. Danger grows when those in power believe they cannot make mistakes. This is true in medicine too.
ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗೆ ಮುನ್ನ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಓದಿ ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂಥ ಸರಳ ವಿನಯದ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸಗಳು ಅನೇಕ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಂದರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಿವೆ. ‘ನನಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಗೊತ್ತು’ ಎನ್ನುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ‘ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸೋಣ’ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ.
Simple habits of humility, such as reading through a checklist before surgery, have reduced complications in many hospitals. ‘Let us check once’ is safer than ‘I know everything’.
