ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಭಾಗ್ಯವಂತ ಮತ್ತು ಶುಭಸ್ಪರ್ಶದ ಕೈ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುವ ಋಗ್ವೇದದ ಎರಡು ಸಾಲಿನ ಋಕ್ ಇದು.
ಕೈಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶ ಸಾಂತ್ವನ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ಭಾವ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಪರಂಪರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯ ಸಮಯದ ಸ್ತುತಿಯಾಗಿ ನೆನೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಅಯಂ ಮೇ ಹಸ್ತೋ ಭಗವಾನಯಂ ಮೇ ಭಗವತ್ತರಃ ।
ಅಯಂ ಮೇ ವಿಶ್ವಭೇಷಜೋಽಯಂ ಶಿವಾಭಿಮರ್ಶನಃ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
अयं मे हस्तो भगवानयं मे भगवत्तरः ।
अयं मे विश्वभेषजोऽयं शिवाभिमर्शनः ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
ayaṃ me hasto bhagavānayaṃ me bhagavattaraḥ |
ayaṃ me viśvabheṣajo’yaṃ śivābhimarśanaḥ ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಅಯಂ (अयं, ayaṃ) = ಇದು (this)
- ಮೇ (मे, me) = ನನ್ನ (my)
- ಹಸ್ತಃ (हस्तः, hastaḥ) = ಕೈ (hand)
- ಭಗವಾನಯಂ (भगवानयं, bhagavānayaṃ) = ಭಾಗ್ಯವುಳ್ಳದ್ದು, ಇದು (ಭಗವಾನ್ + ಅಯಂ) (fortunate, this (bhagavan + ayam))
- ಮೇ (मे, me) = ನನ್ನ (my)
- ಭಗವತ್ತರಃ (भगवत्तरः, bhagavattaraḥ) = ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಭಾಗ್ಯವುಳ್ಳದ್ದು (still more fortunate)
- ಅಯಂ (अयं, ayaṃ) = ಇದು (this)
- ಮೇ (मे, me) = ನನ್ನ (my)
- ವಿಶ್ವಭೇಷಜೋಽಯಂ (विश्वभेषजोऽयं, viśvabheṣajo’yaṃ) = ಎಲ್ಲ ಔಷಧಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮ, ಇದು (ವಿಶ್ವಭೇಷಜಃ + ಅಯಂ) (equal to all remedies, this (vishvabheshajah + ayam))
- ಶಿವಾಭಿಮರ್ಶನಃ (शिवाभिमर्शनः, śivābhimarśanaḥ) = ಮಂಗಲಕರವಾದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶವುಳ್ಳದ್ದು (whose touch brings well-being)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ನನ್ನ ಈ ಕೈ ಭಾಗ್ಯವುಳ್ಳದ್ದು. ನನ್ನ ಈ ಕೈ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಭಾಗ್ಯವುಳ್ಳದ್ದು. ನನ್ನ ಈ ಕೈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಔಷಧಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮ. ನನ್ನ ಈ ಕೈಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶ ಮಂಗಲಕರ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
This hand of mine is fortunate. This hand of mine is more fortunate still. This hand of mine is equal to all remedies. The touch of this hand of mine brings well-being.
ಈ ಋಕ್‌ನ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this rik
ಇದು ಋಗ್ವೇದದ ಹತ್ತನೇ ಮಂಡಲದ 60ನೇ ಸೂಕ್ತದ 12ನೇ ಋಕ್. ಅದೇ ಪಾಠ ಅಥರ್ವವೇದದ 4.13.6 ರಲ್ಲೂ ಇದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ವೇದದ ಎರಡು ಪರಂಪರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ನೆನಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದಿದೆ.
This is the 12th rik of the 60th hymn in the tenth mandala of the Rigveda. The same text is also in the Atharvaveda at 4.13.6. So it was kept in memory in two Vedic traditions.
ಭಗವಾನ್ ಪದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗ್ಯವುಳ್ಳದ್ದು ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಭಗವತ್ತರಃ ಅದರ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಮಟ್ಟ. ಶಿವ ಎಂದರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಗಲಕರ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥ.
We take bhagavan here as fortunate, and bhagavattarah as its higher degree. Shiva here means auspicious.
ಕೈಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಕ್ಕೆ ಔಷಧದ ಗುಣ ಉಂಟು ಎಂಬುದು ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಭಾವ. ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಅಥವಾ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗೆ ಬದಲಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಕಾಯಿಲೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ ವೈದ್ಯರ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯಬೇಕು. ಈ ಋಕ್ ಗುಣವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಭರವಸೆ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
That a hand’s touch carries the quality of medicine is a feeling of the tradition. Prayer or touch does not replace medical treatment. If we are ill, we should seek a doctor’s treatment. This rik does not promise a cure.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ರೋಗಿಯ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಹಿಡಿಯುವುದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಕೊಡಬಲ್ಲದು. ಒಂದು ಮೃದುವಾದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶ ಮಾತಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹೇಳುವುದುಂಟು.
Gently holding a patient’s hand can give them courage. A soft touch sometimes says more than words.
ಈ ಋಕ್ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಬಳಸಲು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೂ ಮನೆಯವರ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಗೆ ವೈದ್ಯರ ಬಳಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವುದನ್ನು ತಡ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು.
This rik reminds us to use our hands in service. Even so, we should not delay taking a sick family member to the doctor.
