Just as the mighty wind, moving everywhere, always rests in space, so understand that all beings rest in me.
Context and commentary on verse 9.6
Here the paradox of the last two verses gets an image. Wind is in space and blows in space. Yet it does not stick to space, nor does it shake it.
For Shankara the point of the image is the absence of contact: beings rest without any touch in the Lord, who is everywhere like space. Madhva makes the same point: the wind in space does not touch space.
Ramanuja sees the image from another side. That the wind stays up in space, which offers no support, means the Lord himself holds it. He quotes the Taittiriya, ‘bhishasmad vatah pavate’, from fear of him the wind blows. Beings too are upheld in the same way by him who is unseen.

For life today
The air is always around us, yet we notice it only when breath grows short. Those with asthma or lung disease know the worth of every breath.
If a new difficulty in breathing appears, or breathlessness on the stairs grows, it is better shown to a doctor than written off as age. The image of unseen air draws attention both to the unseen Lord and to the small things we forget.
