ಉಚ್ಚೈಃಶ್ರವಸಮಶ್ವಾನಾಂ ವಿದ್ಧಿ ಮಾಮಮೃತೋದ್ಭವಮ್।
ಐರಾವತಂ ಗಜೇಂದ್ರಾಣಾಂ ನರಾಣಾಂ ಚ ನರಾಧಿಪಮ್ ॥ 27 ॥

उच्चैःश्रवसमश्वानां विद्धि माममृतोद्भवम्।
ऐरावतं गजेन्द्राणां नराणां च नराधिपम् ॥ 27 ॥

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಅಶ್ವಾನಾಮ್ ಅಮೃತೋದ್ಭವಮ್ ಉಚ್ಚೈಃಶ್ರವಸಂ ಮಾಂ ವಿದ್ಧಿ (अश्वानाम् अमृतोद्भवम् उच्चैःश्रवसं मां विद्धि, aśvānām amṛtodbhavam uccaiḥśravasaṃ māṃ viddhi) = ಕುದುರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮೃತಮಥನದಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಉಚ್ಚೈಃಶ್ರವಸ್ ನಾನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿ (among horses know me as Uchchaihshravas, born of the nectar)

ಕುದುರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮೃತಮಥನದಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಉಚ್ಚೈಃಶ್ರವಸ್, ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಆನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಐರಾವತ, ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ ನಾನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Among horses know me as Uchchaihshravas, born at the churning for nectar, among lordly elephants as Airavata, and among men as the king.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ 10.27ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 10.27
ಉಚ್ಚೈಃಶ್ರವಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಐರಾವತ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಕ್ಷೀರಸಾಗರವನ್ನು ಅಮೃತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕಡೆದಾಗ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರು. ‘ಅಮೃತೋದ್ಭವ’ ಎಂಬ ವಿಶೇಷಣ ಐರಾವತಕ್ಕೂ ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರೂ ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳೂ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಐರಾವತ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಇರಾವತಿಯ ಸಂತಾನ. ಉಚ್ಚೈಃಶ್ರವಸ್ ಇಂದ್ರನ ಕುದುರೆ, ಐರಾವತ ಇಂದ್ರನ ಆನೆ ಎಂದು ಪುರಾಣಗಳು ಹೇಳುತ್ತವೆ.
Uchchaihshravas and Airavata were both born when the ocean of milk was churned for nectar. Ramanuja and Sridhara Swami say the epithet ‘born of the nectar’ applies to Airavata as well. Shankara explains the name Airavata: the offspring of Iravati. The Puranas tell that Uchchaihshravas is Indra’s horse and Airavata Indra’s elephant.
‘ನರಾಣಾಂ ಚ ನರಾಧಿಪಂ’, ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಆಚಾರ್ಯರೂ ಇದನ್ನು ನೇರವಾಗಿ ‘ರಾಜ’ ಎಂದೇ ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಜನರನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸುವ ಹೊಣೆ ಹೊತ್ತವನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಶಕ್ತಿ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ಇದರ ಭಾವ ಎನ್ನಬಹುದು. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ವಿವರಣೆಯ ಸಾರ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಪುಟದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
‘Naranam cha naradhipam’, among men the king. All the acharyas explain this plainly as ‘the king’. The sense, one may say, is that his power should show especially in one who bears the duty of protecting people. The gist of Madhva’s explanation is on the previous verse’s page.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
‘ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ’, ಇಂದಿನ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುವ ಹೊಣೆಯಿರುವ ಯಾರೇ ಆಗಲಿ: ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ, ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ, ಮನೆಯ ಯಜಮಾನ. ಅಧಿಕಾರ ವಿಭೂತಿಯಾಗುವುದು ಅದು ಜನರ ಹಿತಕ್ಕೆ ಬಳಕೆಯಾದಾಗ.
‘Among men the king’: in today’s language, anyone who bears the duty of leading people, an officer, a head of an institution, the head of a household. Authority becomes a glory when it is used for the good of people.
ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ತಂಡದ ನಾಯಕ, ಶಾಲೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯೋಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯ, ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹಿರಿಯ, ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಈ ಮಾತು ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ತನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಗಿರುವವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯ ಕಾಳಜಿಯೇ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದ ಗುರುತು.
The leader of a hospital team, a school headmaster, the elder of a family: this applies to them all. Care for the health and peace of those in one’s charge is the mark of good leadership.
