Context and commentary on verse 10.3
‘Aja’, unborn, and ‘anadi’, without beginning, look like a repetition. Shankara states their connection: he is the beginning of the gods and sages, and he has no other beginning. So he is without beginning, and for that very reason unborn. ‘All sins’ means those committed knowingly and unknowingly.
Ramanuja gives the two words two tasks. ‘Unborn’ sets him apart from changing insentient matter and from the bound self born through karma. The liberated self too is no longer born, but that state of his had a beginning. ‘Without beginning’ sets the Lord apart from him as well. Madhva reads ‘anadi’ by taking it apart: ‘ana’, the one who sets everything in motion, and ‘adi’, the source of all.

‘Asammudha’, one free of confusion. One who knows the root has less fear of getting lost among the branches.
It is the same with illness. If one keeps treating only the symptoms, confusion grows. When the root cause is found, the treatment becomes clear.
