ಶ್ವೇತಾಶ್ವತರ ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತಿನ ಮೂರನೇ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯದ ಒಂಬತ್ತನೇ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಇದು. ಇದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೇಲಿನದು ಯಾವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಇದು ಪರಮ ಪುರುಷನನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಅವನು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ದೊಡ್ಡದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡವನು. ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮರದಂತೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಲನಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ತುಂಬಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಮಾತು.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಯಸ್ಮಾತ್ಪರಂ ನಾಪರಮಸ್ತಿ ಕಿಂಚಿದ್ಯಸ್ಮಾನ್ನಾಣೀಯೋ ನ ಜ್ಯಾಯೋಽಸ್ತಿ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ।
ವೃಕ್ಷ ಇವ ಸ್ತಬ್ಧೋ ದಿವಿ ತಿಷ್ಠತ್ಯೇಕಸ್ತೇನೇದಂ ಪೂರ್ಣಂ ಪುರುಷೇಣ ಸರ್ವಮ್ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
यस्मात्परं नापरमस्ति किंचिद्यस्मान्नाणीयो न ज्यायोऽस्ति कश्चित् ।
वृक्ष इव स्तब्धो दिवि तिष्ठत्येकस्तेनेदं पूर्णं पुरुषेण सर्वम् ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
yasmātparaṃ nāparamasti kiṃcidyasmānnāṇīyo na jyāyo’sti kaścit |
vṛkṣa iva stabdho divi tiṣṭhatyekastenedaṃ pūrṇaṃ puruṣeṇa sarvam ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಯಸ್ಮಾತ್ (यस्मात्, yasmāt) = ಯಾವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ (than whom)
- ಪರಂ (परं, paraṃ) = ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನದು, ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದುದು (higher)
- ನಾಪರಮಸ್ತಿ (नापरमस्ति, nāparamasti) = ಬೇರೆ ಇಲ್ಲ (ನ + ಅಪರಂ + ಅಸ್ತಿ) (nothing else exists (na + aparam + asti))
- ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ (किंचित्, kiṃcit) = ಏನೂ (anything)
- ಯಸ್ಮಾನ್ನಾಣೀಯೋ (यस्मान्नाणीयो, yasmānnāṇīyo) = ಯಾವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾದುದು ಇಲ್ಲ (ಯಸ್ಮಾತ್ + ನ + ಅಣೀಯಃ) (than whom nothing is subtler (yasmat + na + aniyah))
- ನ (न, na) = ಇಲ್ಲ (not)
- ಜ್ಯಾಯೋಽಸ್ತಿ (ज्यायोऽस्ति, jyāyo’sti) = ದೊಡ್ಡದು ಇದೆ (ಜ್ಯಾಯಃ + ಅಸ್ತಿ) (greater exists (jyayah + asti))
- ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ (कश्चित्, kaścit) = ಯಾರೂ, ಯಾವುದೂ (anyone)
- ವೃಕ್ಷ (वृक्ष, vṛkṣa) = ಮರ (a tree)
- ಇವ (इव, iva) = ಹಾಗೆ (like)
- ಸ್ತಬ್ಧೋ (स्तब्धो, stabdho) = ನಿಶ್ಚಲನಾಗಿ (still)
- ದಿವಿ (दिवि, divi) = ಪ್ರಕಾಶಮಯ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ, ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ (in the luminous sky)
- ತಿಷ್ಠತ್ಯೇಕಸ್ತೇನೇದಂ (तिष्ठत्येकस्तेनेदं, tiṣṭhatyekastenedaṃ) = ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಒಬ್ಬನೇ, ಅವನಿಂದ ಇದು (ತಿಷ್ಠತಿ + ಏಕಃ + ತೇನ + ಇದಂ) (stands alone, by him this (tishthati + ekah + tena + idam))
- ಪೂರ್ಣಂ (पूर्णं, pūrṇaṃ) = ತುಂಬಿದೆ (is filled)
- ಪುರುಷೇಣ (पुरुषेण, puruṣeṇa) = ಪುರುಷನಿಂದ (by the Purusha)
- ಸರ್ವಮ್ (सर्वम्, sarvam) = ಎಲ್ಲವೂ (all)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಯಾವನಿಗಿಂತ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದುದು ಬೇರೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಯಾವನಿಗಿಂತ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾದುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅವನಿಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅವನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ. ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮರದಂತೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಲವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಆ ಪುರುಷನಿಂದ ಈ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ತುಂಬಿದೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
There is nothing higher than him, nothing subtler and nothing greater. He is one. He stands still in the luminous sky like a tree. By that Purusha all this is filled.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಇದು ಶ್ವೇತಾಶ್ವತರ ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತಿನ 3.9. ಈ ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತು ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಯಜುರ್ವೇದದ ಪರಂಪರೆಗೆ ಸೇರಿದೆ. ಇದು ಅನುಷ್ಟುಪ್ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನ ಶ್ಲೋಕ.
This is Shvetashvatara Upanishad 3.9. The Upanishad belongs to the Krishna Yajurveda tradition. The verse is in the Anushtubh metre.
ಎರಡನೇ ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಮುದ್ರಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆ. ಕೆಲವು ಪಾಠಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ ಎಂಬ ಆವೃತ್ತಿಯೂ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾವು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮುದ್ರಿತವಾದ ಪಾಠವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಮರದಂತೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಲ ಎಂಬ ಹೋಲಿಕೆ ಅವನ ಸ್ಥಿರತೆಯನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಬದುಕಿನ ಗದ್ದಲದ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಿರವಾದ ಆಸರೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂಬ ಭಾವನೆ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಿಂದ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
This verse brings the feeling that there is a steady support amid the noise of life.
ವೃಕ್ಷದಂತೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಲವಾಗಿ ಕೆಲವು ನಿಮಿಷ ಕುಳಿತು ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸುವುದು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿ ಕೊಡಬಹುದು.
Sitting still like a tree for a few minutes may give the mind some rest.
