Context and commentary on verse 10.8
In some traditions the four verses from eight to eleven are recited specially as the ‘chatuhshloki’ of the Gita. Sridhara Swami explains the four as one unit: they show how right knowledge is gained through knowing the glory and the power. Madhva takes verses eight to ten together and says their point is that there are indeed some who worship in this way.
For Shankara the ‘I’ is the supreme Brahman called Vasudeva, and ‘bhava’ is the mind settled in the highest truth. Ramanuja adds to his sovereignty qualities such as gracious accessibility, beauty and tender affection. For him ‘bhava’ is a mind that longs for the Lord. For Sridhara Swami it is love.

‘Bhavasamanvitah’, filled with feeling. Understanding and love go together here. Feeling without understanding may soon collapse, and understanding without feeling may dry up.
Every kind of work needs this same balance. A teacher or a nurse who both knows the subject and cares is remembered for a long time.
