ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಪಿತಾಸಿ ಲೋಕಸ್ಯ ಚರಾಚರಸ್ಯ ತ್ವಮಸ್ಯ ಪೂಜ್ಯಶ್ಚ ಗುರುರ್ಗರೀಯಾನ್।
ನ ತ್ವತ್ಸಮೋಽಸ್ತ್ಯಭ್ಯಧಿಕಃ ಕುತೋಽನ್ಯೋ ಲೋಕತ್ರಯೇಽಪ್ಯಪ್ರತಿಮಪ್ರಭಾವ ॥ 43 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
पितासि लोकस्य चराचरस्य त्वमस्य पूज्यश्च गुरुर्गरीयान्।
न त्वत्समोऽस्त्यभ्यधिकः कुतोऽन्यो लोकत्रयेऽप्यप्रतिमप्रभाव ॥ 43 ॥

pitāsi lokasya carācarasya tvamasya pūjyaśca gururgarīyān|
na tvatsamo’styabhyadhikaḥ kuto’nyo lokatraye’pyapratimaprabhāva || 43 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಅಪ್ರತಿಮಪ್ರಭಾವ (अप्रतिमप्रभाव, apratimaprabhāva) = ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಪ್ರಭಾವವುಳ್ಳವನೇ (O one of incomparable power)
- ಅಸ್ಯ ಚರಾಚರಸ್ಯ ಲೋಕಸ್ಯ ಪಿತಾ ಅಸಿ (अस्य चराचरस्य लोकस्य पिता असि, asya carācarasya lokasya pitā asi) = ಈ ಚರಾಚರ ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನು ತಂದೆ (you are the father of this world, moving and unmoving)
- ತ್ವಮ್ ಅಸ್ಯ ಪೂಜ್ಯಃ ಚ ಗುರುಃ ಗರೀಯಾನ್ (त्वम् अस्य पूज्यः च गुरुः गरीयान्, tvam asya pūjyaḥ ca guruḥ garīyān) = ನೀನು ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂಜ್ಯ, ಗುರುವಿಗಿಂತ ಹಿರಿಯ ಗುರು (you are its object of worship and its greatest teacher)
- ಲೋಕತ್ರಯೇ ಅಪಿ ತ್ವತ್ಸಮಃ ನ ಅಸ್ತಿ (लोकत्रये अपि त्वत्समः न अस्ति, lokatraye api tvatsamaḥ na asti) = ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮನಾದವರಿಲ್ಲ (in all three worlds there is none equal to you)
- ಅಭ್ಯಧಿಕಃ ಅನ್ಯಃ ಕುತಃ (अभ्यधिकः अन्यः कुतः, abhyadhikaḥ anyaḥ kutaḥ) = ನಿನಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವರು ಇನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಿಂದ (how then could another surpass you)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಪ್ರಭಾವವುಳ್ಳವನೇ, ಈ ಚರಾಚರ ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನು ತಂದೆ. ನೀನು ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂಜ್ಯ, ಗುರುವಿಗಿಂತ ಹಿರಿಯ ಗುರು. ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮನಾದವರಿಲ್ಲ, ನಿನಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವರು ಇನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಿಂದ?
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
You are the father of this world, moving and unmoving. You are its object of worship, a teacher greater than any teacher. In all three worlds there is none equal to you, O one of incomparable power. How then could another surpass you?
ಶ್ಲೋಕ 11.43ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 11.43
ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ‘ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮನಾದವರಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ತರ್ಕ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಇಬ್ಬರು ಈಶ್ವರರು ಇರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ, ಅನೇಕ ಈಶ್ವರರಿದ್ದರೆ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ವ್ಯವಹಾರವೇ ನಡೆಯದು. ಸಮನಾದವನೇ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಾಗ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ? ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ‘ಅಪ್ರತಿಮ’ ಪದವನ್ನು ಉಪಮೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಎಂದು ಬಿಡಿಸಿ, ತಂದೆಯಾದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಪೂಜ್ಯ, ಗುರುವಿಗೂ ಗುರು ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ.
Shankara gives reasoning for ‘none is equal to you’: there cannot be two Lords, for if there were many Lords the working of the world would not go on. When there is not even an equal, where could a superior come from? Sridhara Swami unfolds ‘apratima’ as without any comparison, and says that because he is the father he is worthy of worship, the teacher even of teachers.
ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಸಮಾನತೆಯನ್ನು ಗುಣಗಳ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಕಾರುಣ್ಯ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಯಾವ ಗುಣದಲ್ಲೂ ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮನಾದವರಿಲ್ಲ, ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವರು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ. ತಂದೆ, ಪೂಜ್ಯ, ಗುರು ಆಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದಲೇ ಮುಂದಿನ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಕ್ಷಮೆಯ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗೆ ನೆಲೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಅವರು. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ವಿವರಣೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲ ಪಠ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ.
Ramanuja sees equality at the level of qualities: in no quality, compassion or any other, is there anyone equal to you in the three worlds, so how could anyone be greater? Because he is father, the one to be worshipped and the teacher, he says, the plea for forgiveness in the next verse finds its ground. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ನಿಜವಾದ ದೊಡ್ಡತನ ಎದುರಾದಾಗ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯ ಆಟ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ. ‘ನನಗಿಂತ ಯಾರು ಮುಂದೆ’ ಎಂಬ ಚಿಂತೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಥ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ.
When true greatness appears, the game of comparison stops. The worry of ‘who is ahead of me’ loses its meaning here.
ಅವನು ‘ಲೋಕದ ತಂದೆ’ ಎಂದಾದರೆ ಲೋಕದ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಮನೆಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು. ಈ ಯೋಚನೆ ಅಪರಿಚಿತರ ಬಗ್ಗೆಯೂ ಕರುಣೆಯನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
If he is ‘the father of the world’, everyone in the world is a child of the same home. This thought gives rise to compassion even towards strangers.
