ಅರ್ಜುನ ಉವಾಚ
ಸ್ಥಾನೇ ಹೃಷೀಕೇಶ ತವ ಪ್ರಕೀರ್ತ್ಯಾ ಜಗತ್ಪ್ರಹೃಷ್ಯತ್ಯನುರಜ್ಯತೇ ಚ।
ರಕ್ಷಾಂಸಿ ಭೀತಾನಿ ದಿಶೋ ದ್ರವಂತಿ ಸರ್ವೇ ನಮಸ್ಯಂತಿ ಚ ಸಿದ್ಧಸಂಘಾಃ ॥ 36 ॥

अर्जुन उवाच
स्थाने हृषीकेश तव प्रकीर्त्या जगत्प्रहृष्यत्यनुरज्यते च।
रक्षांसि भीतानि दिशो द्रवन्ति सर्वे नमस्यन्ति च सिद्धसङ्घाः ॥ 36 ॥

sthāne hṛṣīkeśa tava prakīrtyā jagatprahṛṣyatyanurajyate ca|
rakṣāṃsi bhītāni diśo dravanti sarve namasyanti ca siddhasaṅghāḥ || 36 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಅರ್ಜುನ ಉವಾಚ (अर्जुन उवाच, arjuna uvāca) = ಅರ್ಜುನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು (Arjuna said)
- ಹೃಷೀಕೇಶ ಸ್ಥಾನೇ (हृषीकेश स्थाने, hṛṣīkeśa sthāne) = ಹೃಷೀಕೇಶನೇ, ಇದು ಸರಿಯಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದೆ (O Hrishikesha, it is fitting)
- ತವ ಪ್ರಕೀರ್ತ್ಯಾ ಜಗತ್ ಪ್ರಹೃಷ್ಯತಿ ಅನುರಜ್ಯತೇ ಚ (तव प्रकीर्त्या जगत् प्रहृष्यति अनुरज्यते च, tava prakīrtyā jagat prahṛṣyati anurajyate ca) = ನಿನ್ನ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯಿಂದ ಜಗತ್ತು ಹರ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬುತ್ತದೆ (that the world rejoices and delights in your praise)
- ರಕ್ಷಾಂಸಿ ಭೀತಾನಿ ದಿಶಃ ದ್ರವಂತಿ (रक्षांसि भीतानि दिशः द्रवन्ति, rakṣāṃsi bhītāni diśaḥ dravanti) = ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು ಹೆದರಿ ದಿಕ್ಕುದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ ಓಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ (the demons flee in fear in all directions)
- ಸರ್ವೇ ಸಿದ್ಧಸಂಘಾಃ ಚ ನಮಸ್ಯಂತಿ (सर्वे सिद्धसङ्घाः च नमस्यन्ति, sarve siddhasaṅghāḥ ca namasyanti) = ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಿದ್ಧರ ಸಮೂಹಗಳೂ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ (and all the hosts of siddhas bow down)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಅರ್ಜುನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು: ಹೃಷೀಕೇಶ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯಿಂದ ಜಗತ್ತು ಹರ್ಷಿಸುವುದೂ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬುವುದೂ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದೆ. ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು ಹೆದರಿ ದಿಕ್ಕುದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ ಓಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಿದ್ಧರ ಸಮೂಹಗಳೂ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Arjuna said: It is fitting, O Hrishikesha, that the world rejoices and delights in the praise of your greatness. The demons flee in fear in all directions, and all the hosts of siddhas bow down.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ 11.36ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 11.36
ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಇಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹನ್ನೊಂದು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಅರ್ಜುನನ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಸ್ತುತಿ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ‘ಸ್ಥಾನೇ’ ಪದಕ್ಕೆ ಎರಡು ಅರ್ಥ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಜಗತ್ತು ಹರ್ಷಿಸುವುದು ಸರಿ ಎಂಬುದು ಒಂದು. ಹರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ವಿಷಯ ಭಗವಂತನೇ ಎಂಬುದು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಆತ್ಮ, ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಹಿತೈಷಿ. ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಹರ್ಷಿಸುವ ‘ಜಗತ್ತು’ ಯುದ್ಧ ನೋಡಲು ಬಂದು ಸೇರಿದ ದೇವ, ಗಂಧರ್ವ, ಸಿದ್ಧ, ಯಕ್ಷ ಮೊದಲಾದವರು.
According to Sridhara Swami the eleven verses from here are Arjuna’s second hymn. Shankara gives ‘sthane’ two senses: it is right that the world rejoices, or the Lord himself is the fitting object of joy, since he is the Self of all and the well-wisher of every being. For Ramanuja the ‘world’ that rejoices is the gods, gandharvas, siddhas, yakshas and others who had gathered to watch the battle.
ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ‘ಹೃಷೀಕೇಶ’ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ ಎರಡು ವಿವರಣೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಇಂದ್ರಿಯಗಳ, ಅಂದರೆ ಹೃಷೀಕಗಳ, ಒಡೆಯ ಎಂಬುದು ಒಂದು. ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹರ್ಷ ಕೊಡುವ ಕಿರಣಗಳೇ ಕೇಶಗಳಾಗಿರುವವನು ಎಂಬುದು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು. ಸೂರ್ಯ ಚಂದ್ರರ ಕಿರಣಗಳು ನನ್ನ ಕೇಶಗಳು ಎಂಬ ಮೋಕ್ಷಧರ್ಮದ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅವರು ಉದ್ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಕೆಲವು ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಕ್ಷೆಯ ಮಂತ್ರವಾಗಿ ಪಠಿಸುವುದುಂಟು, ‘ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು ಹೆದರಿ ಓಡುತ್ತಾರೆ’ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತೇ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ.
Madhva gives two explanations of the name ‘Hrishikesha’: the lord of the senses, the ‘hrishikas’, and the one whose ‘keshas’, hairs, are the rays that give joy to the world. He quotes the Mokshadharma: the rays of the sun and moon are my hairs. In some traditions this verse is recited as a mantra of protection, and the words ‘the demons flee in fear’ are the reason for it.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
‘ಸ್ಥಾನೇ’, ಇದು ಸರಿ. ಹೊಗಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಅರ್ಹವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಹೊಗಳುವುದು ಮುಖಸ್ತುತಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಯ, ದಾದಿಯ, ಮನೆಯವರ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಬಾಯಿಬಿಟ್ಟು ಮೆಚ್ಚುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತದೆ.
‘Sthane’, it is fitting. Praising what deserves praise is not flattery. Openly appreciating the good work of a colleague, a nurse or a family member helps everyone grow.
ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕತ್ತಲೆಗೆ ಹೆದರಿದಾಗ ಒಂದು ಪರಿಚಿತ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅವರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಆಸರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಆ ಆಸರೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಗಟ್ಟಿ.
When children are afraid of the dark, a familiar verse gives their mind support. If its meaning is taught too, that support is firmer still.
