Context and commentary on verse 18.57
Now the teaching turns directly to Arjuna. Shankara takes ‘chetasa’ as with discerning understanding, and ‘sannyasa’ as offering everything in the manner of ‘whatever you do, whatever you eat’ (9.27), and ‘buddhiyoga’ as collected understanding. Sridhara Swami calls buddhiyoga the yoga that comes from a resolute understanding.
Ramanuja reads ‘chetasa’ as with the understanding ‘I belong to the Lord and am governed by him’, and links 3.30: entrusting all actions to him together with their agency and their object of worship, and acting while contemplating that he alone is the fruit to be attained. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.

Recalling for a moment at the start and end of work that ‘this is an offering to something greater’ is a simple practice of this verse.
‘Satatam’, always. Keeping one intention in the background through the day gives even small tasks meaning and the mind scatters less.
