ಈಶ್ವರಃ ಸರ್ವಭೂತಾನಾಂ ಹೃದ್ದೇಶೇಽರ್ಜುನ ತಿಷ್ಠತಿ।
ಭ್ರಾಮಯನ್ಸರ್ವಭೂತಾನಿ ಯಂತ್ರಾರೂಢಾನಿ ಮಾಯಯಾ ॥ 61 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
ईश्वरः सर्वभूतानां हृद्देशेऽर्जुन तिष्ठति।
भ्रामयन्सर्वभूतानि यन्त्रारूढानि मायया ॥ 61 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)
īśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ hṛddeśe’rjuna tiṣṭhati|
bhrāmayansarvabhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā || 61 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಅರ್ಜುನ ಈಶ್ವರಃ (अर्जुन ईश्वरः, arjuna īśvaraḥ) = ಅರ್ಜುನ, ಈಶ್ವರನು (the Lord, O Arjuna)
- ಸರ್ವಭೂತಾನಾಂ ಹೃದ್ದೇಶೇ ತಿಷ್ಠತಿ (सर्वभूतानां हृद्देशे तिष्ठति, sarvabhūtānāṃ hṛddeśe tiṣṭhati) = ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ (dwells in the hearts of all beings)
- ಯಂತ್ರಾರೂಢಾನಿ ಸರ್ವಭೂತಾನಿ (यन्त्रारूढानि सर्वभूतानि, yantrārūḍhāni sarvabhūtāni) = ಯಂತ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿದಂತಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳನ್ನು (all beings, as if mounted on a machine)
- ಮಾಯಯಾ ಭ್ರಾಮಯನ್ (मायया भ्रामयन्, māyayā bhrāmayan) = ತನ್ನ ಮಾಯೆಯಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಸುತ್ತಾ (causing them to revolve by his maya)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಅರ್ಜುನ, ಈಶ್ವರನು ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿ, ಯಂತ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿದಂತಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮಾಯೆಯಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
The Lord, O Arjuna, dwells in the hearts of all beings, causing all beings, as if mounted on a machine, to revolve by his maya.

ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಇಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಎರಡು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಭಗವಂತನ ಸ್ವಮತ: ಜೀವಿಗಳು ಅಂತಿಮವಾಗಿ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರನ ಅಧೀನ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ‘ಅರ್ಜುನ’ ಸಂಬೋಧನೆಗೆ ಸುಂದರ ಅರ್ಥ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಬಿಳುಪಿನಂತೆ ಶುದ್ಧ ಅಂತಃಕರಣದವನು, ‘ಅಹಶ್ಚ ಕೃಷ್ಣಮಹರರ್ಜುನಂ ಚ’ ಎಂಬ ಋಗ್ವೇದ ಮಂತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಅರ್ಜುನ’ ಬೆಳ್ಳಗಿನ ಹಗಲು. ಈಶ್ವರ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಆಳುವ ನಾರಾಯಣ.
According to Sridhara Swami the two verses from here are the Lord’s own view: beings ultimately depend on the supreme Lord. Shankara gives the address ‘Arjuna’ a lovely sense: one whose inner organ is pure like whiteness, for in the Rigveda mantra ‘ahash cha krishnam ahar arjunam cha’ ‘arjuna’ is the bright day. For him the Lord is Narayana, who rules all.
ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ‘ಹೃದ್ದೇಶ’ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೂಲವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಸ್ಥಳ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸುದೇವ ನೆಲೆಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ‘ಯಂತ್ರ’ ಅವನೇ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ ದೇಹ ಇಂದ್ರಿಯ ರೂಪದ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ, ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿದ ಜೀವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅವನು ಗುಣಮಯ ಮಾಯೆಯಿಂದ ಅವರವರ ಕರ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ವಿವರಣೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲ ಪಠ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ.
According to Ramanuja the ‘region of the heart’ is the place where the knowledge that is the root of all activity and restraint arises, and there Vasudeva dwells. The ‘machine’ is prakriti in the form of body and senses, made by him, and he directs the beings mounted on it by his maya of the gunas, in keeping with each one’s karma. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಹೃದಯಬಡಿತ, ಉಸಿರಾಟ, ಜೀರ್ಣಕ್ರಿಯೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆಯೇ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತವೆ. ದೇಹವೆಂಬ ಈ ಯಂತ್ರದ ಅದ್ಭುತವನ್ನು ನೆನೆದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಹುಟ್ಟುತ್ತದೆ.
The heartbeat, breathing and digestion go on without our command. Recalling the wonder of this machine called the body gives rise to gratitude and to caring for it.
ಪ್ರತಿ ಜೀವಿಯ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಶ್ವರನಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಕೀಳಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಲು ಆಸ್ಪದವಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ನಾವೇ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂಬ ಭ್ರಮೆಯೂ ಸಡಿಲವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
If the Lord is in the heart of every being, there is no room to look down on anyone. The illusion that we control everything also loosens.
