ತಮೇವ ಶರಣಂ ಗಚ್ಛ ಸರ್ವಭಾವೇನ ಭಾರತ।
ತತ್ಪ್ರಸಾದಾತ್ಪರಾಂ ಶಾಂತಿಂ ಸ್ಥಾನಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ ಶಾಶ್ವತಮ್ ॥ 62 ॥

तमेव शरणं गच्छ सर्वभावेन भारत।
तत्प्रसादात्परां शान्तिं स्थानं प्राप्स्यसि शाश्वतम् ॥ 62 ॥

ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)

tameva śaraṇaṃ gaccha sarvabhāvena bhārata|
tatprasādātparāṃ śāntiṃ sthānaṃ prāpsyasi śāśvatam || 62 ||

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ವಭಾವೇನ (भारत सर्वभावेन, bhārata sarvabhāvena) = ಭಾರತ, ಪೂರ್ಣ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ (with your whole being, O Bharata)
ತಮ್ ಏವ ಶರಣಂ ಗಚ್ಛ (तम् एव शरणं गच्छ, tam eva śaraṇaṃ gaccha) = ಅವನನ್ನೇ ಶರಣು ಹೋಗು (take refuge in him alone)
ತತ್ಪ್ರಸಾದಾತ್ ಪರಾಂ ಶಾಂತಿಮ್ (तत्प्रसादात् परां शान्तिम्, tatprasādāt parāṃ śāntim) = ಅವನ ಪ್ರಸಾದದಿಂದ ಪರಮ ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನೂ (by his grace, supreme peace)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಭಾರತ, ಪೂರ್ಣ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನೇ ಶರಣು ಹೋಗು. ಅವನ ಪ್ರಸಾದದಿಂದ ಪರಮ ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಶಾಶ್ವತ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನೂ ಪಡೆಯುವೆ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

Take refuge in him alone with your whole being, O Bharata. By his grace you will attain supreme peace and the eternal abode.

ಶ್ಲೋಕ 18.62ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 18.62

ಶರಣಾಗತಿಯ ಮೊದಲ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ಕರೆ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸಂಸಾರದ ಆರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆಯಲು ಅದೇ ಈಶ್ವರನನ್ನು ಸರ್ವಾತ್ಮನಾ ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸು, ಅವನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ಪರಮ ಉಪರತಿಯನ್ನೂ ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ನಿತ್ಯ ಪರಮಪದವನ್ನೂ ಪಡೆಯುವೆ. ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳೂ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರನ ಅಧೀನವಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅಹಂಕಾರವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅವನನ್ನೇ ಶರಣು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು.

The first clear call to surrender. According to Shankara, to remove the affliction of worldly life take refuge in that very Lord with your whole self, and by his grace you will gain supreme cessation and the eternal supreme abode of Vishnu. According to Sridhara Swami, since all beings depend on the supreme Lord, one should give up ego and take refuge in him alone.

ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಓದು ಹೃದಯಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿ: ಆಶ್ರಿತರ ಮೇಲಿನ ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯದಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಾರಥಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ‘ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡು’ ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ನನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಶರಣು ಹೋಗು, ಅಂದರೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸು. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಒಂದು ಶೈಲಿಯ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಕೃಷ್ಣ ತನ್ನನ್ನೇ ‘ಅವನು’ ಎಂದು ಪರೋಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ, ದ್ರೋಣನಿಗೆ ಭೀಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತಿನಂತೆ.

Ramanuja’s reading is touching: take refuge in me, who out of tender love for those who depend on me stand as your charioteer and command ‘do thus’, that is, follow me. Madhva notes a point of style: Krishna is speaking of himself indirectly as ‘him’, like the words Bhima spoke to Drona.

ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಮೀರಿದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಗುಣವಾಗದ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯ ಎದುರು, ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶರಣಾಗತಿ ಅನೇಕರಿಗೆ ಶಾಂತಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಉಪಶಾಮಕ ಆರೈಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರೋಗಿಯ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

In situations beyond our control, for example facing an illness that cannot be cured, faith and surrender bring many people peace. In palliative care the patient’s spiritual needs are also respected.

‘ಸರ್ವಭಾವೇನ’, ಪೂರ್ಣ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ. ಅರೆಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಆತಂಕವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಶಾಂತಿಯ ದಾರಿ.

‘Sarvabhavena’, with the whole being. Half-hearted trust does not lessen anxiety. Making the effort and entrusting the result is the way to peace here.
