ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಮನ್ಮನಾ ಭವ ಮದ್ಭಕ್ತೋ ಮದ್ಯಾಜೀ ಮಾಂ ನಮಸ್ಕುರು।
ಮಾಮೇವೈಷ್ಯಸಿ ಸತ್ಯಂ ತೇ ಪ್ರತಿಜಾನೇ ಪ್ರಿಯೋಽಸಿ ಮೇ ॥ 65 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
मन्मना भव मद्भक्तो मद्याजी मां नमस्कुरु।
मामेवैष्यसि सत्यं ते प्रतिजाने प्रियोऽसि मे ॥ 65 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)
manmanā bhava madbhakto madyājī māṃ namaskuru|
māmevaiṣyasi satyaṃ te pratijāne priyo’si me || 65 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಮನ್ಮನಾಃ ಭವ ಮದ್ಭಕ್ತಃ (मन्मनाः भव मद्भक्तः, manmanāḥ bhava madbhaktaḥ) = ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಟ್ಟವನಾಗು, ನನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತನಾಗು (fix your mind on me, be devoted to me)
- ಮದ್ಯಾಜೀ ಮಾಂ ನಮಸ್ಕುರು (मद्याजी मां नमस्कुरु, madyājī māṃ namaskuru) = ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸು, ನನಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸು (worship me, bow to me)
- ಮಾಮ್ ಏವ ಏಷ್ಯಸಿ (माम् एव एष्यसि, mām eva eṣyasi) = ನನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಸೇರುವೆ (you will come to me alone)
- ತೇ ಸತ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರತಿಜಾನೇ ಪ್ರಿಯಃ ಅಸಿ ಮೇ (ते सत्यं प्रतिजाने प्रियः असि मे, te satyaṃ pratijāne priyaḥ asi me) = ನಿನಗೆ ಸತ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ, ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಪ್ರಿಯ (I promise you truly, for you are dear to me)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಟ್ಟವನಾಗು, ನನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತನಾಗು, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸು, ನನಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸು. ನನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಸೇರುವೆ. ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಪ್ರಿಯನಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ಸತ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Fix your mind on me, be devoted to me, worship me, bow to me. You will come to me alone. I promise you truly, for you are dear to me.

9.34 ರ ಮಾತು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆಯೊಡನೆ ಮರಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಹೀಗೆ ನಡೆಯುವವನು ಸಾಧ್ಯ, ಸಾಧನ, ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ವಾಸುದೇವನಲ್ಲೇ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದವನು, ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಸೇರುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಸತ್ಯ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಹೀಗೆ ನಡೆಯುವವನು ಅವನ ಪ್ರಸಾದದಿಂದ ಪಡೆದ ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸೇರುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಶಯ ಬೇಡ.
The word of 9.34 returns here with a promise. According to Shankara one who lives this way has offered to Vasudeva alone the goal, the means and the purpose, and he comes to me alone, and in this I make a true promise. According to Sridhara Swami one who lives this way reaches him through the knowledge gained by his grace, and there should be no doubt in this.
ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ‘ಮನ್ಮನಾ ಭವ’ಕ್ಕೆ ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತುಗಳ ಆಳವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ‘ಕತ್ತಲೆಯ ಆಚೆಯ, ಸೂರ್ಯವರ್ಣದ ಮಹಾಪುರುಷನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಅರಿತಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೀಗೆ ಅರಿತವನು ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಅಮೃತನಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಬೇರೆ ದಾರಿಯಿಲ್ಲ’ (ಶ್ವೇತಾಶ್ವತರ 3.8). ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ಧ್ಯಾನ, ಕಾಣುವಂತೆಯೇ ಇರುವ, ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಿಯವಾದ ನಿರಂತರ ಸ್ಮರಣೆಯನ್ನೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಧಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಅವರು. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ವಿವರಣೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲ ಪಠ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ.
Ramanuja gives ‘manmana bhava’ the depth of the Upanishads: ‘I know that great Person, sun-coloured, beyond darkness, knowing him thus one becomes immortal here, there is no other path’ (Shvetashvatara 3.8). He says the meditation taught there, an unbroken, dearly loved remembrance that is like seeing, is what is enjoined here. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸರಳ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳು: ಮನಸ್ಸು, ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಪೂಜೆ, ನಮನ. ದಿನದ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ನಿಮಿಷಗಳ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಅಥವಾ ಮೌನ ಕೂಡ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಆಚರಣೆಯಾಗಬಹುದು.
Four simple steps: mind, love, worship, bowing. Even a few minutes of prayer or silence at the start of the day can be a practice of this verse.
‘ಪ್ರಿಯೋಽಸಿ ಮೇ’, ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಪ್ರಿಯ. ಕಲಿಸುವವರು ಕಲಿಯುವವರಿಗೆ ತಾವು ಪ್ರೀತಿಪಾತ್ರರು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ ಕಲಿಕೆ ಆಳವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
