ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಭೂತಃ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನಾತ್ಮಾ ನ ಶೋಚತಿ ನ ಕಾಂಕ್ಷತಿ।
ಸಮಃ ಸರ್ವೇಷು ಭೂತೇಷು ಮದ್ಭಕ್ತಿಂ ಲಭತೇ ಪರಾಮ್ ॥ 54 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
ब्रह्मभूतः प्रसन्नात्मा न शोचति न काङ्क्षति।
समः सर्वेषु भूतेषु मद्भक्तिं लभते पराम् ॥ 54 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)
brahmabhūtaḥ prasannātmā na śocati na kāṅkṣati|
samaḥ sarveṣu bhūteṣu madbhaktiṃ labhate parām || 54 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಭೂತಃ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನಾತ್ಮಾ (ब्रह्मभूतः प्रसन्नात्मा, brahmabhūtaḥ prasannātmā) = ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಭಾವ ಹೊಂದಿದ, ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನವನು (one who has become Brahman, serene in mind)
- ನ ಶೋಚತಿ ನ ಕಾಂಕ್ಷತಿ (न शोचति न काङ्क्षति, na śocati na kāṅkṣati) = ದುಃಖಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಬಯಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ (neither grieves nor craves)
- ಸರ್ವೇಷು ಭೂತೇಷು ಸಮಃ (सर्वेषु भूतेषु समः, sarveṣu bhūteṣu samaḥ) = ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಸಮನಾಗಿ (equal towards all beings)
- ಪರಾಂ ಮದ್ಭಕ್ತಿಂ ಲಭತೇ (परां मद्भक्तिं लभते, parāṃ madbhaktiṃ labhate) = ನನ್ನ ಪರಮ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ (attains supreme devotion to me)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಭಾವ ಹೊಂದಿದ, ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನವನು ದುಃಖಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಬಯಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಸಮಭಾವದಿಂದ ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಪರಮ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
One who has become Brahman, serene in mind, neither grieves nor craves. Equal towards all beings, he attains supreme devotion to me.

ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಶಿಖರದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಕ್ತಿ, ಇದು ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ವಿಶೇಷ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿದವನು ಯಾವುದೋ ಕೊರತೆಗಾಗಲಿ ತನ್ನ ದೋಷಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ ದುಃಖಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಪಡೆಯದ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಬಯಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಇದು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮವಿದನ ಸ್ವಭಾವದ ವರ್ಣನೆ. ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ದೇಹಾಭಿಮಾನವಿಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ದುಃಖವಿಲ್ಲ, ಅಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಕ್ಕೆ ಆಸೆಯಿಲ್ಲ.
Devotion at the summit of knowledge: that is the special feature of this verse. According to Shankara one who has reached Brahman does not grieve over any lack or over his own faults, and does not crave what he has not gained, and this describes the nature of the knower of Brahman. According to Sridhara Swami, since there is no identification with the body, there is no grief at loss and no longing for what is not gained.
ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ‘ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಭೂತ’ಕ್ಕೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಅರ್ಥ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಮಿತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ಆಕಾರವಾದ, ಭಗವಂತನಿಗೆ ಶೇಷವಾಗಿರುವುದೇ ಸ್ವಭಾವವಾದ ಆತ್ಮಸ್ವರೂಪ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾದವನು, ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು 7.5 ನ್ನು ಉದ್ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವನು ಭಗವಂತನ ಹೊರತು ಯಾವ ಜೀವಿಗಾಗಿಯೂ ದುಃಖಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಯಾವುದನ್ನೂ ಬಯಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ವಿವರಣೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲ ಪಠ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ.
Ramanuja gives ‘brahmabhuta’ his own sense: one in whom the nature of the self has shone forth, whose form is unlimited knowledge and whose very nature is to belong to the Lord, and for this he quotes 7.5. Such a one grieves for no being and craves nothing apart from the Lord. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಒಂದು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ವರ್ಣನೆ, ದುಃಖಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ‘ದುಃಖಿಸಬೇಡ’ ಎಂಬ ಆದೇಶವಲ್ಲ. ಆಪ್ತರನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ದುಃಖ ಸಹಜ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಯ ಮತ್ತು ಜೊತೆ ಬೇಕು.
This verse describes a lofty state, it is not an order to those who grieve to stop grieving. Grief at losing loved ones is natural, and it needs time and company.
‘ಸಮಃ ಸರ್ವೇಷು ಭೂತೇಷು’. ಬಡವ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ, ಪರಿಚಿತ ಅಪರಿಚಿತ ಎಲ್ಲ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಸಮಾನ ಆರೈಕೆ ಈ ಸಮಭಾವದ ದಿನನಿತ್ಯದ ರೂಪ.
‘Samah sarveshu bhuteshu.’ Equal care for all patients, poor or rich, known or unknown, is the everyday form of this equality.
