ಸವಿತ್ರೀಭಿರ್ವಾಚಾಂ ಶಶಿಮಣಿಶಿಲಾಭಂಗರುಚಿಭಿಃ
ವಶಿನ್ಯಾದ್ಯಾಭಿಸ್ತ್ವಾಂ ಸಹ ಜನನಿ ಸಂಚಿಂತಯತಿ ಯಃ ।
ಸ ಕರ್ತಾ ಕಾವ್ಯಾನಾಂ ಭವತಿ ಮಹತಾಂ ಭಂಗಿರುಚಿಭಿಃ
ವಚೋಭಿರ್ವಾಗ್ದೇವೀ-ವದನಕಮಲಾಮೋದಮಧುರೈಃ ॥ 17 ॥

सवित्रीभिर्वाचां शशिमणिशिलाभङ्गरुचिभिः
वशिन्याद्याभिस्त्वां सह जननि सञ्चिन्तयति यः ।
स कर्ता काव्यानां भवति महतां भङ्गिरुचिभिः
वचोभिर्वाग्देवीवदनकमलामोदमधुरैः ॥ 17 ॥

- ಸವಿತ್ರೀಭಿಃ (सवित्रीभिः, savitrībhiḥ) = ಜನ್ಮ ಕೊಡುವವರಾದ (who are the sources)
- ವಾಚಾಂ (वाचां, vācāṃ) = ಮಾತಿಗೆ (of speech)
- ಶಶಿಮಣಿಶಿಲಾಭಂಗರುಚಿಭಿಃ (शशिमणिशिलाभङ्गरुचिभिः, śaśimaṇiśilābhaṅgarucibhiḥ) = ಒಡೆದ ಚಂದ್ರಕಾಂತ ಶಿಲೆಯ ಕಾಂತಿಯುಳ್ಳವರಾದ (with the lustre of freshly broken moonstone)
- ವಶಿನ್ಯಾದ್ಯಾಭಿಃ (वशिन्याद्याभिः, vaśinyādyābhiḥ) = ವಶಿನೀ ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೇವತೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ (with Vashini and the deities beside her)

- ಕರ್ತಾ ಕಾವ್ಯಾನಾಂ (कर्ता काव्यानां, kartā kāvyānāṃ) = ಕಾವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವವನು (a maker of poems)
- ಭವತಿ (भवति, bhavati) = ಆಗುತ್ತಾನೆ (becomes)
- ಮಹತಾಂ (महतां, mahatāṃ) = ಮಹಾಕವಿಗಳ (of the great poets)
- ಭಂಗಿರುಚಿಭಿಃ (भङ्गिरुचिभिः, bhaṅgirucibhiḥ) = ಬಳುಕಿನ ಸೊಬಗುಳ್ಳ (graceful in their turns of phrase)
- ವಚೋಭಿಃ (वचोभिः, vacobhiḥ) = ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ (with words)
- ವಾಗ್ದೇವೀ (वाग्देवी, vāgdevī) = ಸರಸ್ವತಿಯ (of the goddess of speech)
- ವದನಕಮಲ (वदनकमल, vadanakamala) = ಮುಖಕಮಲದ (of her lotus face)
- ಆಮೋದಮಧುರೈಃ (आमोदमधुरैः, āmodamadhuraiḥ) = ಪರಿಮಳದಷ್ಟು ಸಿಹಿಯಾದ (sweet with its fragrance)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ತಾಯೇ, ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಜನ್ಮ ಕೊಡುವವರೂ ಒಡೆದ ಚಂದ್ರಕಾಂತ ಶಿಲೆಯ ಕಾಂತಿಯುಳ್ಳವರೂ ಆದ ವಶಿನೀ ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೇವತೆಗಳ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸುತ್ತಾನೋ, ಅವನು ಕಾವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವವನಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವನ ಮಾತು ಮಹಾಕವಿಗಳ ಮಾತಿನಷ್ಟೇ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿ ಬಳುಕುತ್ತದೆ, ಸರಸ್ವತಿಯ ಮುಖಕಮಲದ ಪರಿಮಳದಷ್ಟೇ ಸಿಹಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Mother, whoever meditates on you together with Vashini and the deities beside her, who are the sources of speech and carry the lustre of freshly broken moonstone, becomes a maker of poems. His words turn with the same grace as those of the great poets, and are as sweet as the fragrance of the lotus face of the goddess of speech.
